Steered Straight 2009-2010 School Year Plans

Steered Straight Inc. has been expanding more quickly this year than any year since our inception in 2000.

We have moved this year into the state’s juvenile detention centers with presentations as well as weekly curriculum sessions based on the ABCs of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy.

Steered Straight will once again bring prevention and intervention presentations to all 21 counties throughout New Jersey, expanding also into Northern Delaware, Philadelphia and New York City.(Click here to view a list of upcoming events.)

Our primary prevention message is geared toward middle-school and high-school audiences, and our focus will be on this population.

The key to our success in reaching youth is due to the ‘Messengers” we use - successfully acclimated ex-offenders who bring powerful consequential messages about the dangers of substance abuse, gang involvement, bullying, and criminal activity. 

We collaborate with FED-UP 4U, Inc. out of Vineland, NJ with whom we have a proactive program to warn students about the misleading glamour of gangs. We collaborate with Robert ‘Midget’ Molley, recently featured on BET’s American Gangster Series as well as the History channel and the Biography channel. We also collaborate with Def Jam Recording artist, YOUNG LEEK.
