VINELAND – Teens from the Boys & Girls Club of Vineland learned more about the dangers of prescription drugs during several recent sessions of the club’s SMART Moves Program.
Michael DeLeon of Steered Straight also spoke with teens about “Staying in Your Lane” by not submitting to peer pressure and staying away from drugs. He shared his personal story of triumph over tragedy, and answered questions from the teens about his own life choices and how he got to be where he is now.
SMART Moves incorporates current research about problems confronting young people and aims to provide viable solutions to help them handle challenging circumstances while avoiding risky and unhealthy behaviors. The program is supported by the Vineland Municipal Alliance and a state Department of Children and Families’ Outreach to At-Risk Youth grant.
