Rhonda was raised by a fire and brimstone Pentecostal father who was physically violent and emotionally cruel to her and her siblings. This set the stage for years of dysfunction, confusion and ultimately an addiction to pain pills. When her husband died suddenly and unexpectedly in her arms as they were planning a trip to Hawaii for their 20th wedding anniversary that sent her life spiraling out of control with drugs. When Rhonda was sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple DUIs, she thought her life was over. Little did she know that it was just beginning.
Through that prison sentence and a reentry program, Rhonda began to learn about addiction, participate in therapy, form a community of supporters who mentored and coached her into a new way of living a life in recovery. Rhonda is now a Certified Recovery Specialist, Recovery Coordinator for Family Worship Center in Murfreesboro, TN, Recovery Coach at the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center, a published writer, and speaker. Her story has been in Guideposts, Lifeline Magazine, and Prison Fellowship Ministries Magazine. She uses her story of recovery to teach valuable life lessons and share the hope of healing with her audience.
REDEMPTION! We use that word so casually, but the meaning behind it is incredibly deep. Rhonda Rush not only exhibits a true story of redemption, but uses her story and her life as a guide for others. A Beautiful Story from a Beautiful Person – inside and out!!!
